Spectrum 520-IP Mass Notification Is Key Part of Emergency Plan

By providing a superior learning environment for its students, Cedarwood has earned the reputation as one of Louisiana’s best private schools.   Comprised of four separate buildings across a seven-acre campus, the school appeared to be technologically advanced until Hurricane Katrina proved otherwise.  The facility wished to implement an emergency plan to provide instant communication to the entire campus.

Intercom System Requirements:
New intercom system that Cedarwood implemented needed to:

  • Provide instant communication to the entire school campus
  • Support classroom intercoms to notify administration of an emergency
  • Customize page delivery to specific classrooms or an entire building

Cedarwood Chose the Jeron Spectrum® 520-IP Solutions:
Some of the key implementations at the school included:

  • Mass Notification - administrators can notify the entire school, including buildings and outside fields, instantaneously of an emergency through a single tone or announcement
  • One-Touch Calls - teachers can quickly summon for help without ever leaving the classroom with the simple push of a button to signal an emergency without making it known to students
  • School Safety - from the front office administrators can page the entire school or just a single classroom; constant administrative presence at the school’s entrance provides additional safety to students and staff

The adoption of Spectrum 520-IP into the school’s emergency plan was relatively seamless with little training necessary.  The new paging system and emergency buttons within classrooms were immediately put into effect.  Cedarwood’s improved level of safety and communication now matched its premier education status, allowing administration to focus on what is truly important, educating the students.
